Extensive testing has shown that correctly produced finger-jointed timber is equal in strength to solid timber.
COL TIMBERS has invested in state-of-the-art finger joint technology and members of its highly experienced local team have been trained in Germany.

We use water resistant D3 adhesives and quality control the entire process. COL TIMBERS finger-jointed timber has numerous

advantages over solid timber as it is:
  • Free from major defects
  • Free from excessive bow, warp and twist
  • Available in required lengths up to 6.3m

(A) Defects like loose knots are marked with special chalk

(B) Optical scanner picks up these chalk marks

(C) Saw blade cuts on chalk marks automatically and at high speed

Finger-jointed Pine mouldings have become the norm. However, due to the large colour variations in meranti, COL TIMBERS doesn’t finger-joint its meranti mouldings. This is unique in the industry. Be sure to ask for solid Col Timbers meranti mouldings to avoid unsightly finger-joints when varnishing your meranti mouldngs.
